Spice labelling

The linear to lance-shaped leaves are used as seasoning. Although the smell is reminiscent of onions, the herbaceous plant has no bulb. It is used primarily as a soup vegetable, e.g. with carrots and celery.

Taste

It smells like a vegetable; it is hot and spicy, and similar to onion in flavour.
